Synthetic tanning materials are usually called Syntans. They are generally sulphonated condensation products of aromatic compounds. Syntans help to further stabilize the leather’s collagen network.

Mode of Action

Synthetic auxiliary tanning agents, known as syntan, has very good selective filling in belly and shanks with good grain tightness, body and excellent fullness. It is linked through secondary valence linkage by electrovalent salt bridges (ion bonds) of the sulfonic acid groups with the amine groups of the collagen.

Bleaching Syntan

• Gives good bleaching effect on all kinds of leather
• Compatible with Resin Syntans and Vegetable Tannins

Melamine Resin Syntan

• Gives excellent filling properties
• Compatible with other range of Syntans and Vegetable Tannins
• Improves re-tanned skins and maintains smooth grain and tensile strength

Polymer Syntan

• Can be used in all stages of re-tanning
• Gives smooth and tight grain
• Ideal for shoe uppers, garments, upholstery leather & suede

Vegetable Based Syntan

• Is a special tanning compound based on a blend of natural tanning and organic ingredients
• It gives very good filling with smooth and fine grain
• It is ideal for high vegetable re-tan leathers, and mimosa can be replaced partially

Chrome Based Syntan

• Can be used in multiple applications
• Improves uniformity
• Gives better colour yield in semi chrome tannages along with chrome powder

Dosage is recommended based on the types of the leather like shoe uppers, clothing apparels, automotive leather, upholstery, leather goods and industrial tool leathers.
